Charity & Fundraising

Throughout the academic year, our houses raise money for three main charities, a local charity, a national charity, and an international charity. Our biggest fundraising day of the year is Rag Day whereby the money raised is split equally between all three charities.

International Charity

Don Bosco Ashalayam, Kolkata is an Indian NGO working for the rehabilitation of street and destitute children. Ashalayam provides assistance to all children in need, regardless of religion, caste, or gender. Over 500 children reside in Ashalayam’s twenty-three shelter homes and benefit from educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities.  Through its street presence and various programmes in the slums and railway stations, Ashalayam also provides assistance to thousands of street children every year. Over three decades, Ashalayam has helped over 80,000 children.

National Charity

Great Ormond Street Hospital has always depended on charitable donations to give seriously ill children the chance of a better future. Everyday, 618 children and young people from across the UK arrive at the hospital. Through the money raised for charity the money goes to supporting the hospital and young patients in funding four key areas:

  • Rebuild and refurbish wards and medical facilities designed around children, and which let the hospital treat more patients.
  • Fund pioneering research to tackle complex childhood illnesses.
  • Pay for the most advanced equipment for treating the toughest and rarest conditions.
  • Fund services that help make life in hospital as normal as possible for young patients and their families.

Local Charity

The White Lodge Centre supports disabled children, young people and adults, their families and carers in Surrey and throughout the surrounding areas. They specialise in care for those with a diverse range of disabilities, including cerebral palsy and other similar conditions. It costs over £1,000 a day to run the Centre.

Our students have had the privilege of visiting White Lodge a number of times and have really enjoyed getting involved in the numerous amount of activities arranged to raise money.
