Student well-being

Learning support is a multidisciplinary team alongside SEND support. We deliver high quality holistic and therapeutic support. These are far-reaching across the school and college,  supporting many students.

Staff use a variety of solution-focused therapies that are delivered in a timely fashion usually lasting for six sessions. Our research shows that shorter-term therapies empower students to support themselves rather than becoming dependant on an adult, this links into our resilience ethos. brief.org.uk  eikon.org.uk  boingboing.org.uk

We are in the process of becoming a Trauma-Informed school alongside applying for a  Mental Health for schools award linked to the Carnegie and Leeds Beckett university project at Silver Level. beaconhouse.org.uk

Mindfulness Mondays and Wellbeing Wednesdays

In 2020, the Autumn term has seen additional support made available to promote pupil and student wellbeing at Salesian School Chertsey. Mrs. S Bruney is now our lead in Wellbeing at Salesian, offering guidance and support.

To assist Mrs. Bruney with this objective, Mrs. K Hibbins-Durkin, Ms. I Barnsley and others are offering Mindfulness Mondays and Wellbeing Wednesdays as part of the Salesian Wellbeing Lunch Club provision. These clubs currently take place in the RE block. Activities on offer include opportunities for a quiet chat, a listening ear, board games and mindful colouring.
