Special Educational Needs & Disability

Students with SEND benefit from an experienced and knowledgeable team of Learning Support Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants. Our LSAs have specialist subject knowledge as well as specialist SEND knowledge and are both subject and SEND champions linked to curriculum departments. Our team specialise in structured, cumulative and multi-sensory teaching techniques and in-depth subject knowledge up to GCSE level.

Support is provided to individuals using a variety of techniques that maximise the impact of LSA presence in the classroom, enhancing independence and confidence whilst minimising barriers to mainstream learning.

The majority of support is classroom-based, but occasionally students are withdrawn to undertake specialist programmes tailored to their specific needs and study support in our learning support centre, known as ‘The Loft’. Our aim is to support students to develop independence, preparing our young people for the wider world and ensuring they establish the confidence to take on the challenges life presents.

Please refer to the SEN information report, SEND policy, Provision Map, Accessibility Plan and Access arrangements documents for further information about the support offered.
